The 2023 Annual Old Guard Picnic
The Annual Old Guard Picnic was held at the Lovely Hartsdale, Ridge Road Park on July 12th.
Despite the 89 degrees weather forecast, the Committee, undaunted, prepared to host another wonderful picnic. The park’s, magnificent Gazebo with more than adequate tables and benches equipped with charcoal grills, ensured the preparation of a feast: Juicy Hamburgers, Hot dogs, delicious Barbeque chicken, mini croissants stuffed with chicken salad, German Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad, and Cold Slaw.
Complementing the menu were breakfast snacks, warm bagels, cream cheese, banana, and pumpkin bread generously prepared and baked by our humble Vice president Larry Hines. To keep us cool was a generous supply of cold bottled water, lemonade, apple juice and non-alcohol drinks.
Those who attended enjoyed the camaraderie and the warm, bright sunny and rain-free day. As the Committee Chair, I want to express my sincerest appreciation to the three Chef Extraordinaire Glen Gordon, Mort Genn, Russell Oakes and all those who lent a helping hand to make our picnic a success.
Special thanks to the ladies who pitched in to serve, clean up and ensure that the Gazebo was left as it was found.
My sincerest gratitude to all those who attended and participated in making the picnic so very enjoyable.

The Old Guard Photography Group will be attending the 25th annual lunar new year parade and festival in chinatown on Sunday, February 12th.
We will photograph the marchers getting ready for the parade from 11am to noon in West Chinatown and then walk to East Chinatown where we will have lunch and watch the parade pass by.
This activity requires considerable walking and standing. The duration is 3-4 hours.
Depending on the Old Guard members participating, we will either car pool or meet in Grand Central Station and take the subway to Chinatown.
