Reading Buddies - Spring 2018
July 23, 2018
Dear Old Guard:
Thank you for coming to the Summer Reading Buddies Program and reading with the children. As you may know, Summer learning opportunities for elementary-aged children strongly impact long-term academic success of students. Therefore, we greatly appreciate your support as we seek to provide such opportunities to the children of Yonkers and Ossining.
"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart. " Elizabeth Andrew."
Thank you for having the heart to come and help the children keep up their literacy skills over the summer months!
Warm regards,
Janice

Ecumenical Emergency Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is a 52 week per year volunteer operations serving White Plains from the Slater Center. Local residents are referred by their churches or by social agencies and receive a balanced diet grocery bag appropriate to the size of their household. The bulk of the food comes from the "Food Bank" which operates a central warehouse which provides food to the various Food Pantries in Westchester County.
The Old Guard supports the Food Pantry with cash contributions and volunteer efforts throughout the year, particularly during important holidays.
